Svinaberga

The name of the village may sound a bit blunt, but the fact is that it is a genuinely peaceful and safe village, beautifully situated high above the Tångdala valley where the 9 motorway between Kivik and Simrishamn has been drawn. On the other side of the valley is S. Mellby with the impressive large church.

The natural environment in the valley and up towards Stenshuvud is dominated by old broadleaf woodland, alder bogs and shrub-rich pastures. Otherwise, the landscape is characterised by orchards and farmland at Swabian bar, the dominant farm of the village, through which the car road to Stenshuvud National Park passes. On the Svabesholm royal farm you can rent an overnight stay in an apartment and at the same time have access to a banqueting hall that can accommodate about 100 seated guests.

South of the village on the old road to Kivik the restaurant is located Alley where the beautiful assembly hall can accommodate over 100 seated guests. In the northern part of Svinaberga is Blåsingsborg which offers a restaurant and hotel rooms. Down in the valley at Södra Mellby, in the old school, there is a third restaurant, Mer ou Mindre. It is also not far to Friden, the pizza paradise on Prästavägen.

If you can settle for coffee, there is the famous Kaffestugan Annorlunda at Stenshuvud. The fact that national idol and Österlen ambassador Ulf Lundell lives in the area around Stenshuvud has put Svinaberga on the map. The buildings in the village, older low houses mixed with a number of farms, are located along the old country road towards Kivik and up the hill along the road from S. Mellby.

I S. Mellby There are bus connections both to Simrishamn and northwards to Brösarp. The nearest larger town with services such as schools, nursing homes, shops, more restaurants and hotels is Kivik It is two kilometres away.
