There is quite a distance between the houses in picturesque Månslunda just west of Fågeltofta and Kronovall, on national road 19 between Tomelilla and Kristianstad.
The village has been mentioned since the 18th century when its proximity to the castle Kronovall meant that there were activities for the use of the castle in the village, such as a shop, farrier and blacksmith.
Nowadays, most of the houses are occupied by part-time residents. Agriculture can be said to be small-scale because Månslunda was once located in a heath forest area. As in so many other places near Alunbruket in Andrarum most of the forest in Månslunda was also cut down. The soil in Månslunda is also very rich in stones and therefore less suitable for large-scale agriculture.
Today, there are several farmers in the village who have shown interest in the development of wind turbines, as the village is actually open to the winds due to its high location. The distance to Malmö is just under sixty kilometres. The nearest villages with schools and other public services are Lövestad, in Sjöbo municipality, in Simrishamn municipality, St Olof one mile to the east and in Tomelilla municipality, Onslunda a little over a mile to the south-east.
To the city centre Tomelilla it's just under a mile and a half. Bus connections are available from Fågeltofta.
