Two kilometres due south of Ö. Tommarp is the village of Bolshög, a stone's throw from the best-preserved medieval castle in the Nordic region, Glimmingehus. The church in the village dates from the 12th century and is easily recognised by its flat roof. For many, Bolshög is best known for the spectacular tomb just south-east of the church, Bols or Boels hög.
One legend tells us that King Boel is buried here, while another claims that the giantess Boel lies here, guarding her buried treasure in a copper chest. In the neighbouring villages Ö. Tommarp and Vallby cultural life is now both rich and broad. The nearest town with schools, restaurants and shops is Hammenhög, six kilometres to the west, but also Simrishamn can be reached by car in five minutes via motorway 9.
