Bjärsjö

Secluded location but still so close. Just west of the SimrishamnDown by the winding course of the Tommarpsån river lies little Bjärsjö. A village that once had both a brewery and a large grain company. Today, peace and quiet reigns on both sides of the Tommarpsån river, which was once navigable all the way to the medieval town of Tumour body. The fact that people have lived in Bjärsjö for a long time is shown by ancient remains of various kinds.

The Bronze Age tomb of Kvesehöj/Kvex hög and Pittjestenen are imaginative examples. Kvesehöj may not look very impressive, but from the top you can see more than a dozen church towers around the plain on a clear day. Via Bialittavägen you can quickly reach Gröstorp from where a pedestrian and cycle path leads to the school and secondary school. The distance to Simrishamn is about two kilometres along the old national road 9.
