Swimming in Österlen is a pleasure for both body and soul. There are long, soft sandy beaches, warm rocky outcrops to sunbathe on and charming little harbours to jump into from the pier. It's inviting and relaxed - perfect for a quiet morning dip in the mirror-like waters or an evening swim in the sunset glow. The sea is close everywhere, and each swimming spot has its own unique character.
Long, wide, chalky white - perfect for barefoot walks and full days in the sun. There is a car park, toilet and ice cream kiosk. A family favourite with room for everyone.
A slightly quieter neighbour to Borrby. The beach is endless and lined with soft dunes. Perfect for those who want to swim undisturbed and read a book to the sound of the sea.
Perhaps Sweden's finest beach. Deep turquoise water, chalky white sand and surrounding pine forest. But beware the currents - it's beautiful, but also powerful.
Dramatically beautiful where Verkeån meets the sea. Grazing horses, old oaks and open landscape create an almost poetic atmosphere. Bring a picnic - you'll want to stay a long time.
Klippor, stenar och härliga vågor. Ett paradis för den som gillar att bada från klippor, sola på varma hällar och snorkla bland tångruskor.
A quieter version of Kivik, with a beach that feels like a secret. Fine-grained sand, soft water - and maybe a packed lunch.
Small, local and loved. It's a mix of rocks and small sandy coves - perfect for an evening dip or a quiet morning swim with coffee in a thermos.
A morning or evening swim from the pier in Baskemölla. Dare to jump into the fresh air. What's better than an evening dip?
Ingen strand i vanlig mening – men desto mer karaktär. Stege och klippa att hoppa från. Här slipper du sand om du vill ta ett snabbt dopp. En favorit för badsugna Branteviksbor.
The bathing area of Lake Gyllebo is captured here in a magical moment - the sun glitters over the surface of the water like gold, and the sky offers a dramatic spectacle of light and clouds. The long jetty extends invitingly into the mirror-like water, perfect for an evening swim or a quiet moment with your feet in the lake. Surrounded by lush forest, soft sandy beach and green grass, this is a place that invites both relaxation and adventure. Such a summer evening at Lake Gyllebo makes you want to throw yourself into the water, feel the sun on your skin and just be.
At Tobisvik beach in Simrishamn, you are greeted by a vast sandy beach, clear blue skies and a calm sea stretching towards the horizon. The picture captures two people heading down to the water with paddleboards under their arms - a perfect moment of summer freedom and adventure. The warm sand underfoot, the smell of the sea and the feeling of the sun warming your back create an inviting scene that beckons you to swim, paddle and spend lazy hours by the shore. Here you just want to let go of everything, take a deep breath and glide out over the sparkling surface of the Baltic Sea.
Just north of Simrishamn at Vårhallen is what I guess is Sweden's most beautiful dog swimming area. Perfect for humans too. Very nice sandy beach with a lovely bottom. Parking and rubbish bins right next door. Enjoy summer swimming with man's best friend. Woffi!
Dogs are not allowed on the municipality's official bathing areas between 1 June and 31 August. On beaches outside the official bathing areas, general rules for keeping dogs apply. So now you know.
The bathing area at Kivik harbour is one of Österlen's most charming places for a dip. Here you can swim directly from the old stone pier, where the water quickly becomes deep and clear. It is a small, sheltered bathing area with a view of Hanöbukten
Spraggehusen offers a quiet and natural bathing experience on one of Österlen's most unspoilt stretches of coastline. Here, the fine-grained sandy beach stretches out along a shallow sea, surrounded by heaths and low-growing beach vegetation. It's a quiet, uncrowded place where you can enjoy the silence and clear waters - perfect for long, relaxing swims, both early mornings and late summer evenings. A real gem for those seeking simplicity and closeness to nature.
